Pasture Raised Beef "Worth more at the sale and more at the scale"
Our cows have access to pasture all year round, even during the winter they are given the option to come in and out as they please. During the summer all our cows are raised out on pasture where they have plenty of grass and fresh water. During the winter we feed our cows a balanced died of quality grasses with grains and still allow them access to the outdoors as they please.
Although most people believe that grass fed is healthier, we have found that a balance must be met for the animals health. To keep the weight on our cows we feed them grain, unlike many larger feedlots and commercial producers we don't push the grain to them causing mass weight gains, we use the grain as a maintainer of weight.
We raise two main types of cattle; Ayrshire which we use to show during the summer and milk to feed our pigs and younger calves, and Simmental. Simmental cows are one of the more prime beef breeds in this country because of their excellent carcass size and ratings, along with their mothering abilities.They are one of the top breeds used to cross with other types of beef cattle in the United States. All of our animals are selected based on their pedigrees and are bred to preform both in the show ring and on production. We strive to bring our customers a quality product at a reasonable price that every one can afford. Our beef may not be organic or completely grass fed, but all of our animals are raised as pets and in as natural a way as possible until the time of slaughter, which is reflected in the wonderful quality of their meat.
